companies that filed proxies this year and were processed by The
Corporate Library by March 24, so readers can see how reports are
trending at the largest and most-recognizable companies during the
height of proxy season.
Some companies that filed their CEO pay
information prior to March 24 may not be included because of time needed
to process the reports.
Year-over-year-change calculations are based on
companies where the same CEO served all of 2009 and 2008.
Trends can change, however, as the remaining
companies in the S&P 500 file their proxies. In this chart, we show
the "total compensation," which reflects what was awarded in 2009. This
includes estimates of the future value of stock and options awarded last
year.
