Dear ECE Members:

Please share this information with your colleagues, co-workers and
other equity compensation professionals who may be interested in a
scholarship for the CEP program.

There is still time to apply for the Marilyn J. Perkins Claassen Memorial Scholarship
This program was created in 2007 in honor of our friend and colleague,
Marilyn Perkins Claassen,  to recognize and support talented
individuals who share Marilyn's passion for the equity compensation
industry.

The scholarship is intended for individuals dedicated
to enhancing their knowledge and skills in the equity compensation
industry through Certified Equity Professional certification.

The successful applicant will be provided with a full scholarship for
all three levels, excluding materials. If a scholarship recipient has
already completed one or more levels of the CEP program, the
scholarship will cover the costs of the remaining levels, excluding
materials.

Application Deadline August 15th
The Marilyn J. Perkins Claassen Memorial Scholarship applications are due by August 15, 2008. The selected recipient will be notified by September 8th. To apply for the Marilyn J. Perkins Claassen Memorial Scholarship Program, please visit http://www.scu.edu/business/cepi/cepi_scholarship.cfm.

Greetings to the group.  Thanks to Dan for posting this announcement, the scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for someone to receive an exam fee waiver for their CEP certification.   A person cannot, however, be "nominated" for the scholarship.  There is an extensive application process that the candidate must comply with that includes the completion of an application, and the submission of a resume, a letter of recommendation, and a written statement about why they want the scholarship and what they plan to do with their CEP certification.

As the recipient of the inaugural Marilyn J. Perkins Claassen Memorial Scholarship in 2007, I can add that the application process was well worth the work it took to complete.  Apart from the exam fee waiver, I have been gifted with the friendship and "atta girl" support of Dee Hospodor the CEPI Program Coordinator, received the willing assistance of the CEPI Director Emily Cervino on the occasional cry for help, and adopted Carine Schneider (CEPI Immediate Past Chair) as my unofficial professional mentor.  Of course this all means that my professional network has expanded greatly but, more importantly,  these folks and many others have gone out of their way to make me feel a real part of the equity administration community in a way that simply attending NASPP conferences doesn't fulfill.

I am certainly grateful for the economic benefit bestowed upon me as the 2007 scholarship recipient, but I am even more grateful for the personal enrichment of associating with people of such generous spirit.
